The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and lighting activity over several districts of Odisha for the next few days. In view of the forecast, the MeT Centre has issued a yellow warning for several districts and has asked people to keep a close watch on the weather and stay protected from possible lightning strikes.
As per the prediction, from afternoon of July 3 till morning of July 4th, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.
Similarly a yellow warning has been issued from July 4th till 5th due to forecast of heavy rainfall at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha. During the period, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh and Kandhamal.
