The Puri Police has reportedly detained 10 persons on charges of violating the curfew imposed in the holy town during the Ratha Jatra celebrations. Among the 10 persons detained were two ISKCON devotees - Atul Krishna and Govind Krsna Das who hail from Kurukhetra, Haryana.

Atul and Govind have been charged with viewing the Ratha Jatra festival from the balcony of a building close to the procession of the chariot pulling ceremony. Taking to social media, Govind Krsna Das had earlier shared videos of watching the Ratha Jatra festival closely. Both Atul and Govind have a huge fan following base on various social platforms.

The two Jagannath devotees had shared images of the Holy Trinity’s chariot procession on their social media handles. Rest eight persons who were found violating the guidelines are residents of Puri.

Based on the principle of zero tolerance, police has initiated legal action against the persons whose names have emerged as violators of curfew. Stern legal action would be taken after gathering sufficient evidence and following all due legal procedures.
