In a move to prevent and deal with incidents of crime inside trains, the Ministry of Railways has approved works for the installation of CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras in all train coaches including EMUs and passenger trains.

This information was provided by Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday (August 4). As per sources, CCTV cameras have already been installed in as many as 4141 coaches.

Based on regular analysis, such vulnerable areas/routes have been identified and effective preventive measures are being taken to control crime over such spots.

Meanwhile, a State-Level Security Committee of Railways (SLSCR) has also been constituted for all States/Union Territories under the Chairmanship of respective Director General of Police/Commissioner of States/Union Territories for regular monitoring and review of security arrangements of the Railways.
