Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Odisha on Friday to review the situation after Cyclone Yaas landfall in the state. The PM landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. He chaired a review meeting to take stock of the impact of the cyclone on Odisha.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan & Pratap Sarangi were present in the review meeting held at around 11 AM. Union Minister Pratap Sarangi informed that PM Modi will be announcing a relief package by this evening.

After the review meeting, the Prime Minister then conducted an aerial survey of various cyclone-affected regions of Odisha. Later after the review & survey, PM Modi announced a Rs 500 crore financial assistance for immediate relief activities. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured in the cyclone. Earlier yesterday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had conducted an aerial survey to assess the damage caused by ‘Cyclone Yaas’. The CM conducted the survey of the worst-hit Kendrapara, Balasore and Bhadrak districts of the state.
