Hiring activity in India has reached a pre-pandemic level, i.e. before February 2020.

According to recent data published by the job portal Indeed India, the overall hiring activity in India has touched pre-pandemic levels. The Indeed data suggests that job postings for IT Tech software roles increased by 19% between July 2020 and July 2021. Moreover, job postings for other IT job roles engineer, project head, and more also increased in a range of 8%-16%. Apart from this, housekeeping and caretaking jobs hiring has also increased by 60% between July 2020 and July 2021, the data suggested.

According to PTI reports, the head of Sales at Indeed India, Sashi Kumar said , the reopening of the Indian economy and the efforts made by businesses to overcome challenges brought about by Covid-19, have pushed the job market in the country towards recovery. While the demand of jobs in food and retail sector saw an increase of 52% and 39% respectively, the demand for roles in HR and finance grew by 27% each between July 2020 and July 2021. Sashi Kumar also said , the increase in demand of jobs in food and retail sector signifies that the consumption economy would play an essential role in driving job growth further in the country.
