The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that a Low Pressure Area has formed over North Bay of Bengal (BoB) and neighborhood and currently persists over the same area with an associated cyclonic circulation.

The low pressure is likely to become a well-marked over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh in the next 24 hours. Under the influence of the low pressure, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to prevail over North East Bay of Bengal today. Between July 28th and July 30th, similar conditions are likely to prevail over North Bay of Bengal & neighborhood and Odisha coast.

Fishermen in the area have therefore been advised to refrain from venturing into the deep sea during this period. Meanwhile, for the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Odisha. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for expected heavy rainfall at one or two places over several districts.
