The Bhubaneswar regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast informed that a cyclonic circulation currently lies over East Central Bay of Bengal (BoB) & neighbourhood.
Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours and is very likely to move West North Westwards and concentrate into depression during subsequent 48 hours.
As per the forecast, starting from September 10th, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places over the districts of South Odisha and at a few places over the districts of North Odisha. Between, Sept 10th till 12th, a 'Yellow Warning' has been issued for heavy rainfall over several districts of the state.
These districts are- Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara. However, starting from morning of Sept 12, an 'Orange Warning' has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall over several districts.
These districts include - Puri, Khorda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Bhadrak and Jajpur Meanwhile, during the same period, a 'Yellow Warning' was issued for heavy rainfall which is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Angul, Boudh and Kandhamal.
