The Bhubaneswar regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) is most likely to form into a depression in the next 48 hours.

Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha. From Sept 11 till 12th morning, a 'Yellow Waning' has been issued by the MeT Centre for heavy rainfall over 11 districts of the state.

These districts are - Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Cuttack and Khordha. Then from Sept 12 till 13th morning, an 'Orange Warning' for very heavy rainfall has been issued over 8 districts.

These districts are - Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Jajpur. During the same period, the MeT Centre also issued a 'Yellow Waning' for heavy rainfall over the districts of Ganjam, Balasore, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir and Mayurbhanj.

Meanwhile, the forecast advised fishermen to not venture into sea along and off Odisha coast, North & West central Bay of Bengal between 12th and 14th September 2021.
