The latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests that a cyclonic circulation currently lies over south Bangladesh and neighborhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level. The weather department stated that a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighborhood around 23rd July.
In view of the forecast, the Regional Meteorological Centre issued a yellow warning over several districts of Odisha for the next few days. As per the circular, till morning of July 21, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places in the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal.
There is a forecast of thunderstorm and lightning at some places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Kalahandi.
The IMD has also sounded a yellow warning between July 21 and 22 for heavy showers. During the period, rainfall is likely to lash several places in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Khordha, Sambalpur, Deogarh. Moreover, heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Sundargarh.
Similarly between July 22 and 23, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to be witnessed over some places in the districts of Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Bargarh and Kalahandi. Heavy rains will also be witnessed at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
