Odisha: These wall paintings will let you forget it is a slum

These beautiful paintings on walls take you to a very different world. But these are the slums of Rourkela. They are barely recognizable now. They have changed and how! These colourful paintings have added a new dimension to the otherwise dull-looking walls of the 6 slums in Rourkela, the second smart city of Odisha. There are no walls in these slums without a stroke of paint on it. One can see all kinds of intricately painted animals and other subjects like hockey and football. This transformation has been achieved through the efforts of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation under the infra upgradation project. In the next 6 months, the Civic body also hopes to cover all the slums with these paintings and transform the smart city’s look.
