Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha on Monday issued a new assessment criterion for evaluation of Class 9 and Class 10 students. According to the new assessment scheme, the academic year will begin from July 2021 and will continue till April 2022.

There will be two terms in the academic year, Term 1 and Term 2 and approximately 50% syllabus will be completed in each term. Moreover, as part of the new assessment scheme, internal assessments will be conducted at the school level in line with the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) process.

The evaluation of Class 9 and 10 students will be done with a weightage of 20% to internal assessment, 30% to 1st term-end examination and 50% to final examination or 2nd term end exams. In case the 1st term end examination is cancelled and final term examination is held, the evaluation will be done with 20% weightage to internals, 20% to 1st term end exam conducted at home and 60% weightage to 2nd term end examination.

Moreover, in case the 1st term examination is held and the final exam is cancelled, the weightage will be internal 20%, 1st term end examination 50%, while 30% weightage will be granted for the final term examination conducted at home.

As per the new notification, in case both examinations are cancelled, last 5 year results will be analysed and results will be published based on moderation policy of the Board to ensure validity and reliability of the assessment. The weightage will be internal 20%, 1st term end examination 30% and final term examination 50%.

The notification also added that the new scheme of examination for classes 9 and 10 will be implemented with immediate effect.
