After months-long hiatus, the physical classes for 2020-21 First Year Undergraduate (UG) students of all Universities and colleges across Odisha will resume from 20th September.

Citing that the Covid situation has improved in the state, the Higher Education Department has directed the State Public Universities as well as Non government Degree Colleges (coming under Higher Education Department) to commence the physical teaching of 2020-2021 UG First Year students from Monday.

Teachers/ staff or students residing in containment zone have been asked not to come to the colleges. Protocols like wearing of face masks, social distancing in library, laboratories and classrooms must be adopted. If necessary, crowded classes can be divided and working hours in a day could be extended, the department has said.

Similarly, respiratory etiquettes shall be strictly followed and there should be an isolation room ready for any emergency. Hostels will be opened from 19th September for the students with strict adherence to Covid-19 norms.

The Higher Education department further mentioned that the decision regarding commencement of classes for First Year UG students and Post Graduate students of 2021-22 session will be announced later.
