Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday (September 14) conducted raid on the houses and property of an Anganwadi worker from Bhubaneswar following allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

Simultaneous searches were launched by the officials of the anti-corruption wing at six different places associated with Kabita Mathan, the concerned Anganwadi worker of Karodakanta Anganwadi Center in Bhubaneswar.

On the basis of search warrant issued by Vigilance Special Judge in Cuttack, raids were conducted at her double-storey residential house in Kesura of Bhubaneswar, two three-storey buildings and a single-storey building, all in Jharpada area of Odisha’s capital city. Searches were also conducted at her paternal house in Kendrapara Pattamundai and the paternal house of the Anganwadi worker’s husband in Balikuda Jagatsinghpur. 

Later in the day, Vigilance officials informed that assets worth over Rs 4 crore, including four multi-storey buildings, 14 plots (10 in Bhubaneswar), one four-wheeler, three two-wheelers were unearthed during house search of the Anganwadi Worker.
