The mysterious death of Assistant Conservator Forest (ACF), Soumyaranjan Mohapatra continues to hog headlines as allegations and counter allegations refused to die down. The lawyer of victim’s father, Parthasarthi Nayak has demanded arrest of ACF's wife Bidyabharti in connection with the case. Nayak stated that as per law, there are no roadblocks to take the wife of the deceased under arrest.
The lawyer also demanded that after arrest, Bidyabharti should be taken into remand and interrogated thoroughly. He said that questioning Bidyabharti would reveal the actual truth since her statements mismatch with the evidence found.
Meanwhile, no reaction has been received from the opposing counsel. On the other hand, DIG (Southern Range) Satyabrata Bhoi reportedly confirmed on Thursday (July 22) that the late ACF’s official quarters was the crime spot.
Following a thorough investigation of Soumyaranjan’s official quarters, the DIG said that certain parts of the house had burn marks and there were traces of inflammable objects which suggest a fire mishap to have taken place inside the house. Earlier, the DSP of the Crime Branch had also stated that burn marks had been observed on the back door of the quarters as well as on the mosquito net.
