No beach shacks will be set up at Puri beach. Amid protests erupting from numerous quarters against establishments of beach shacks along the Puri Beach, Collector Samarth Verma came up with a clarification. Speaking on the matter to the media on Friday, the Collector said that there will be no beach shacks on the Puri beach and the plan has been dropped.
Earlier, several associations and state BJP had protested the decision of the government to construct beach shacks in Puri. Citing that the sanctity of Puri should be protected, the agitating groups had demanded the state government to withdraw construction of these beach shacks. The State government had planned to set up these shacks to offer food, chilled beverages and music at the beach to tourists.
