In a major decision in the sensational murder case of the five-year-old minor girl from Odisha’s Nayagarh district, the Supreme Court on Monday directed the victim’s parents to approach the Orissa High Court.

The decision of the Supreme Court came during the hearing of a plea filed by the victim’s mother seeking a CBI probe into the matter.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar came down hard on the Odisha government over the minor girl murder case. The BJP leader alleged that the State government has been delaying the matter in Supreme Court.

On July 14 last year, the five-year-old girl was kidnapped when she was playing outside her house. Later, the girl’s skeletal remains were recovered from the backyard of her house nine days later. Odisha Crime Branch’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) probed the case and had arrested the prime accused in the matter. The Children’s Court in Nayagarh recently framed charges against the accused under various sections of the POCSO Act. However, victim’s parents were dissatisfied with the SIT’s investigation and have been seeking CBI probe into the matter.
