Monsoon has been delayed by a couple of days and is likely to arrive in Kerala by June 3 this year. According to the latest forecast, the southwesterly winds would gradually strengthen further from June 1 which could result in rainfall activity over Kerala.
On the other hand, the Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, issued thunderstorm warning for as many as 15 districts of Odisha.
According to the Met Centre, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Nabarangpur for the next few hours.
Moreover, the Met Centre also issued yellow warning for several districts of Odisha till the morning of June 4. Some of the districts may experience light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity during this period. However, the forecast suggests that there will no large change in the day temperature across districts.
