After a lull, Odisha will once again experience heavy rainfall over the next few days owing to possible formation of a low pressure.

The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that a Low Pressure Area (LOPAR) is likely to form over North and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal around September 6. As per the latest forecast of IMD, light to moderate rain or thundershowers will be seen at many places over the districts of south interior Odisha, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha between September 4-5.

During the period, heavy rainfall will lash one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada. Moreover, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is very likely at some two places of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Ganjam, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi. In the next two days, many places in Odisha will experience light to moderate rain or thundershower with heavy rain in coastal and southern districts due to low pressure formation. In view of the forecast, a yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, and Cuttack.

A similar warning for heavy rainfall has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada in the subsequent day (September 6).
