India's biggest IT firm and one of the largest employers, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is set to become 1 million-employee-strong. Recently, in an interview to business portal (Moneycontrol),

TCS's Chief Operating Officer, N Ganapathy Subramaniam said that they might become 1 million-employee-company. It is to be noted that the IT major now has more than 5 lakh employees in its workforce after record hiring in the first quarter of FY22.

The total employee headcount at TCS increased to 5,09,058 as of June 30. The IT services firm also has plans to hire as many as 40,000 fresh graduates from campuses across the country during the financial year 2021-22. Subramaniam spoke about the challenges that TCS faces being such a huge organisation.

The Chief Operating Officer said that the company has created 150 sub-units which run like individual companies with a fully empowered structure and fully empowered organisation.

They go out there, they execute it, sell it and they manage the customers, he added. Subramaniam said that they only provide governance and oversight and review all those units once a quarter. The Chief Operating Officer also said that if anyone wants to make a career then TCS is the place, because no one can find a better launch pad than TCS.

Meanwhile, it is to be noted that the IT firm working towards a hybrid model by 2025where only 25 percent of its employees will have to come to office.
