Huge sum of cash recovered during simultaneous vigilance raids at six places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Friday. The raids were conducted at the residence of an Odisha govt official and other places linked to him. The official has been identified as Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, who is engaged as the Private Secretary to a member of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC).

At least three teams of Vigilance comprising 4 DSPs, 13 Inspectors and other staff conducted simultaneous searches at six places in the twin cities. As per preliminary reports, Rs 12 lakh cash was recovered Sahoo’s residence, while Rs 13 lakh cash was recovered his brother-in-law’s house.

Moreover, two double storeyed buildings and nine plots registered in the name of Sahoo have also been traced. According to official sources, gold ornaments, insurance bonds, cash, and documents pertaining to investments in shares and bonds were also recovered from Sahoo’s residence.

Speaking on the matter, Odisha Staff Selection Commission Chairman, Nirmal Chandra Mishra said that an internal enquiry will be launched and stern action will be taken in the matter.
