At least 13 people have lost their lives while over 20 are still missing after a massive landslide in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district. The wreckage of the bus that had fallen into a 500-mt deep gorge following the landslide was recovered on

Thursday. According to sources, the landslide buried a truck, a state roadways bus, and several other vehicles over a stretch of the Shimla-Reckong Peo highway near Nigulsari. Reports suggest that at least 13 persons were rescued safely and sent to CHC-Bhawanagar for medical treatment.

A rescue operation is underway to retrieve over 20 people feared trapped in the 200-mt stretch covered with rubble. Himachal Pradesh CM J. Thakur says if the weather permits, Army would deploy its chopper for the rescue operation. The CM is scheduled to visit the landslide site in Kinnaur today.

Meanwhile, ITBP Deputy Commandant Dharmender Thakur has provided details of the rescue operation.
