In a horrific incident, a youth was allegedly abused and sexually assaulted by three drunk men at Ramachandrapur village in Bolangir district on Wednesday. Such was the brutality that the perpetrators inserted a steel glass into youth’s rectum.
The victim Karuna Bhoi sustained serious injuries in the assault and was rushed to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Burla Medical College and Hospital in Sambalpur as his condition deteriorated.
According to sources, Wednesday evening the youth had gone to the village outskirts to attend nature’s call. On spotting Karuna, the three men who were in an inebriated condition initially brandished a pistol and later overpowered the victim and forced a steel glass into his rectum.
Somehow, Karuna managed to escape from the clutches of the attackers and reached home in critical condition. He however did not inform anything to his parents out of shame. Seeing him in agonising pain, Thursday morning (September 16), Karuna’s parents rushed him to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.
Till filing of this report, victim Karuna’s family had not lodged any police complaint in connection with the crime as he was unable to identify the culprits. However, after the story was broadcast on OTV, Additional SP of Bolangir ordered officials of the Deogaon and Bandhapada police stations to launch an investigation into the horrific incident.
