Odisha Police has successfully executed at least 4945 non-bailable warrants from August 16 till August 25, 2021.
The execution of these pending non-bailable warrants was conducted as part of a special warrant drive. During this drive at least 4945 persons were arrested and non-bailable warrants were issued by the Court. Among these at least 467 persons were arrested in sessions trial cases, while 3517 were arrested in GR cases and 961 warrants were issued in other cases. Speaking on the matter, the Director General of Police (DGP) Odisha, Abhay Kumar thanked all the police officials engaged in this special drive.
The DGP appreciated the good work done by Odisha police and has reportedly issued appreciation letters to District SsP of Ganjam, Balasore, Khurdha, Cuttack and Kandhamal districts.
As per reports, the largest number of arrests of 850 persons has been made in Ganjam district. This was followed by 645 warrantees arrested in Balasore district, 547 warrantees arrested in Khurdha district and 278 warrantees arrested in Kandhamal as well as Cuttack district.
