The deep depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal which lay centred about 540 km south-southeast of Paradip and 650 km south-southeast of Balasore last night, has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm this morning. It will further intensify into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours. The system would continue to move north-northwestwards, intensify further and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha and West Bengal coasts by 26th May morning. As per the prediction of the IMD, it is very likely to cross north Odisha - West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar islands by the evening of May 26 as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm. According to latest weather updates, extremely heavy falls will be seen in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and heavy to very heavy falls at a few places in Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar on 26th May. A few isolated places in north interior Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on 27th May. As sea conditions will be rough to very rough, fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
