Speaking on the likely impact of thecyclone ‘Yaas’ in Odisha, Chief of India Meteorological Centre (IMD), MrutyunjayMohapatratoday stated that Dhamara and Chandbali area of Bhadrakmay witness maximum damage due to the cyclone. The IMD chief also mentioned that the cyclone’s impact will be strongly felt 6 hours prior and after the landfall.

IMD Chief, MrutyunjayMohapatra said, As we had told earlier, landfall will take place near Balasore area. As per the prediction, the cyclone will have maximum impact in areas of Balasore and Bhadrak districts and will move towards South of Balasore and North of Dhamara in Bhadrak district. Dhamara will suffer maximum damage since the cyclone is reaching Dhamara area at around 4-5 AM tomorrow morning. Since this area is veryclose to sea, strong winds will start blowing in the area from this afternoon. The wind speed will gradually increase, and as per our prediction, the wind speed next morning will be around 155 – 165 kilometres per hour.
