With Cyclone Yaas hurtling towards Odisha & West Bengal coasts India Meteorological Department (IMD) chief, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that four districts of Odisha are likely to be affected the most. As per the IMD Chief, Jagatsingpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore are likely to bear the brunt of heavy winds with speed ranging from 155-165 kmph. Mohapatra said that the cyclone will cross the coast on May 26th noon. IMD Chief, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, The cyclone which developed over Bay of Bengal, is cantered around 520 km from Paradip, 620 km from Balasore in south south-eastward direction as of afternoon May 24. The wind speed of the cyclonic storm is 70-80 kmph at the center with gustiness of 90 kmph. It is moving slowly and by evening today (May 24) it will slowly move north north-westwards. It will maintain its north north-westwards direction, but its approach speed will increase. Tomorrow, the system will head north north-westwards at 15-20 kmph and by tomorrow evening, it is very likely turn into very severe cyclonic storm. Continuing its north north-north-westwards movement, it will cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Islands around Balasore at around noon on May 26th. As per the forecast the wind speed of the cyclone during this period will be 155-165 kmph with gustiness up to 185 kmph. High wind speed is very likely to be witnessed in districts of Jagatsingpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore.
