In order to boost the number of international flights from Bhubaneswar, Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik for 100 percent Viability Gap Fund (VGF) support.

Under this initiative, international flight services can be started on Bhubaneswar-Dubai, Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi, Bhubaneswar-Bangkok, Bhubaneswar-Kuala Lumpur, Bhubaneswar-Colombo, Bhubaneswar-Singapore and Bhubaneswar-Kathmandu routes.

Scindia wrote in the letter that the routes will be put for bidding by the airlines after the state gives its consent for 100 per cent VGF support. Meanwhile, Odisha Government is yet to take any decision on the Centre's proposal even though the initiative has opened the door of opportunities for more international flights from Bhubaneswar.
