Days after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) apprised the Supreme Court about the assessment criteria for Class 12 Board exams, over a thousand students of Class 10 and Class 12 approached the top Court seeking cancellation of private/ compartment/ repeaters CBSE Board Examinations 2021.

An application plea has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of 1152 compartment/private students of the CBSE with regard to the assessment scheme of Class 10 and Class 12 students enrolled under the CBSE’s private programme or those appearing for compartment exams.

As per reports, the petition seeks a direction to the CBSE Board to arrive at a formula for performance evaluation of the Class 10 students and Class 12 private/ compartment/ repeaters students and release the results in a time bound manner.

These students seem disappointed with the decision of the Education Ministry to conduct board exams in a physical mode, even though an alternative assessment plan has been fixed for the rest of CBSE Class 10 and 12 students.

Citing that the present situation is not conducive for examinations to be conducted in physical mode, petitioner Advocate Abhishek Choudhary, has sought an equal opportunity for private students and repeaters. The demand before the CBSE is to come up with an alternative assessment plan as it did with regular students of Class 10 and Class 12.
