The suspense over marking formula still prevails. The CBSE panel is likely to finalise the assessment criteria for Class 12 Board examinations today and present it to the Supreme Court tomorrow (June 17). If reports are anything to go by, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to take into consideration - the marks obtained by students in the finals of Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12 pre board exams to evaluate marks for students in Class 12 Board exams.
Sources said that the 13-member committee formed by the CBSE is in favour of evaluating students in the 30:30:40 formula for Class 12 board examination. They will be taking into consideration a student’s performance in the final exams of Class 10th, Class 11th, and the pre boards of Class 12. In this system, 30 per cent weightage will be for Class 10 results, 30 per cent for Class 11 and 40 percent for pre board performance.
While students and parents are anxious about the CBSE assessment criteria, reports suggest that the panel is in favour of the 30:30:40 formula as this could give a holistic assessment of the capabilities and performance of a student.
The committee is expected to announce its final decision on the evaluation criteria after submitting reports to the Supreme Court on Thursday (June 17)
