The Supreme Court on Monday (Sept 6) announced that the Class 12 students appearing for Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Private, Patrachar and second compartmental exam can apply for higher education even before their results are published.

The court passed this order stating that the students can take admissions under the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). However, the students have to submit their results to the institutions within one week of declaration of their results.

Additionally, the apex court passed this order based on the submissions made by the counsels of UGC and AICTE that such students can make provisional applications for admissions.

Meanwhile, the court also recorded the undertaking made by the CBSE council stating that they would publish the results before September 30. A bench of Supreme Court declared the same while hearing a writ petition which sought for directions to the CBSE to declare results of Class 12 Private Patrachar/ second Compartment students promptly.

It is pertinent to mention here that the advocate on behalf of the petitioner had submitted that nearly one Lakh students will be appearing for the said exams.

Meanwhile, the advocate has also informed that since colleges have already started their admission process, the petitioners are apprehensive of losing out seats before the declaration of their results.
