In what could be termed as a major success against Narcotics trade in the state, Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch seized brown sugar weighing 1.32 kg following a raid in Khordha district on Thursday (Aug 12).

Acting on intelligence input, a team of STF Bhubaneswar, conducted a raid near Khordha Bus Stand last evening. The team nabbed and arrested three persons from the spot engaged in illegal trade of brown sugar. The STF team seized the narcotics substance and other incriminating materials from their possession after the trio was unable to produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials.

The police registered a case against the drug peddlers. They will be forwarded to the Court, informed Odisha DGP Abhay. In another incident today, Quick Action Team (QAT) of police seized brown sugar worth around Rs 26 lakh following a raid at Shantipalli in Saheed Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.

Four persons have been arrested in this connection. Since 2020, the STF has seized more than 36 kg of Brown Sugar, 38 kg of Ganja while more than 100 drug dealers and peddlers have been arrested.
