Commissionerate Police is adopting a multi-pronged strategy to curb street crimes in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha. Speaking to media, Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi said that street crimes almost always are linked to various slums in the city. According to the Commissioner, most youths engaged in crime-related activities in the city belong to the slum, and many among them are drug addicts. According to the police commissioner, two main initiatives are being planned in the city namely operation ‘White Spider and ‘Basti Ku Chala’ initiative. Police said these initiatives along with stern action against drug peddlers will help curb street crimes in the city.
