The 'Mo Bus' services in the capital city were severely hit on Monday (August 2) after over a hundred employees staged a protest demanding pay hike. This has happened on the day Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) resumed services of Mo Bus on all routes across the Capital Region.
As more than a hundred 'Mo Bus' drivers staged dharna at the bus depot near Sum Hospital in Bhubaneswar, services in as many as 14 different routes were affected as buses did not ply on those routes. As per reports, the employees who are currently getting Rs 12,000 per month as salary, are demanding an increment of Rs 6000.
It is also being alleged that Maharashtra-based firm Travel Time, which is managing Mo Bus, has not paid the salaries to the staff during lockdown.
Further, the company has also allegedly deducted salary for Saturday and Sundays, on days when buses remained off-roads due to shutdown. Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray has supported the Mo Bus employees by joining them at the protest site.
