‘Cyclone Tauktae’: Low pressure forms; very likely to intensify into cyclonic storm

As per the India Meteorological Department, a low pressure has formed and it is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over southeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Lakshadweep by may 16th.

As per the India Meteorological Department, a low pressure has formed and it is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over southeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Lakshadweep by may 16th.  Today a low pressure area formed over Southeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Lakshadweep area. As per the India Meteorological Department, this low pressure is very likely to become a well marked low pressure area over Lakshadweep area by the morning of May 14th. It is likely to concentrate into a Depression over the same region by May 15th morning During the subsequent 24 hours, the system is likely to intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm. After intensifying into a cyclonic storm, it will be named Cyclone Tauktae. The Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre said that probability of probability of cyclogenesis remains high during the next 48-72 hours. As per IMD, it is very likely to intensify further and move north-northwestwards towards Gujarat & adjoining Pakistan coasts and reach near Gujarat coast around May 18th evening. Rainfall warning has been issued for Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, South Konkan & Goa and Gujarat. Warning for squally weather with increased wind speed has also be issued for several places.
