A youth from Cuttack has alleged blackmailing by a woman he met online on the social media platform, Facebook. According to the youth, he received an unknown friend request which he later accepted. He alleged that the woman made video calls and displayed obscene behaviour during the call. When he was on the call, the woman recorded the video conversation and used the recorded conversation to blackmail, the youth said. The woman reportedly demanded Rs. 30,000 from the youth and threatened to make video calls viral if she is not paid.
A complaint has been lodged by the youth at the Crime Branch Cyber Cell in connection with the matter. The youth also warned others to avoid accepting unknown friend requests.
