The fourth-year students of Government College of Engineering in Keonjhar have been staging demonstration for the last 3 days over a plethora of issues in the college.
Among several demands, filling up of vacant faculty posts at the college has been the major concern of the students. The students claimed that there are not adequate number of staff even in core subjects.
Apart from this, the students complained that they were not getting placement opportunities. The library does not have required books. They said every year they protest against similar set of problems they are facing, and each time the college administration allegedly came up with fake assurance.
Alleging that the college hostel, despite being a Covid Care centre, has not been sanitized properly, the students questioned who will be responsible if any student gets infected with the virus.
