The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday (Nov 18) dismissed the plea filed seeking Term 1 exams in hybrid mode. The Apex Court rejected the plea filed by the students of both CBSE (Central Board Of Secondary Education) and ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education). The court has directed that the exams will be held in offline mode while adhering to all Covid-19 protocols.

During the hearing, the Board ruled that the request had come at the eleventh hour and thus cannot be considered currently. Both the sides presented their arguments following which this order was passed. The petition was filed by six students from the two boards which sought for exams to be held in a hybrid model with both online and offline options.

They had sought the hybrid model citing that the offline exams could increase the risk of Covid-19 infection among students. It is pertinent to mention that the CBSE, ICSE Term 1 Board Exams 2022 have already started and are being held in offline mode and after the verdict, it is all set to continue as per schedule.
