With the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) gearing up for offline board exams for Class 10 and 12 students across the country, several students have requested the Board to revise its decision. In a viral list of demands mentioning ‘genuine reasons’, the students want the Board to consider conducting the Term 1 paper in a hybrid mode or entirely online.
Citing the ongoing pandemic and a possible third wave in the country, the students have stated that since most of them fall below the age of 18, they are yet to receive Covid-19 vaccine jab, which makes them feel unsafe. There is thus apprehension over giving exams in the offline mode.
Students have also expressed their apprehensions regarding the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format in which the Term 1 paper will be set. It is also being alleged that many schools have not given proper training to the students regarding the MCQ pattern, which has made it difficult for students to prepare for their exams.
A few other students have also expressed fear in using public transport, in case of those who don’t have any private vehicle to commute to their respective examination centres. Additionally, issues of incomplete syllabus, viva, practical, and a short duration of 2 months for Term 2 exams, have added to the woes of the students.
It is to be noted that as per CBSE Term 1 date sheet, the minor papers for Class 10 and 12 will begin from November 17 and 16, respectively. CBSE is scheduled to release admit cards for Term-1 exams on November 9.
