Owing to the pandemic situation, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to hold the 2022 Board exams for Class 10 and 12 students in two terms with a reduced syllabus. The Term-I Examination is likely to begin from mid November, 2021 and Term-II or the Year end examination is scheduled in the month of March and April, 2022.

If reports are anything to go by, CBSE may release the date sheet for the Term-I examination by October 10.

Question papers of both the terms will be shared by CBSE and they will be centralized. Recently in a circular, CBSE asked schools to submit the lists of candidates set to appear for the Board exams with relevant information. The deadline for this has been set for September 30 so that CBSE could soon start the examination process.

The Term-1 exam will be objective type and have MCQ-OMR based question sheets, while the Term-2 exam will be of a subjective type and also have practical components. The final score of a student would be calculated on the basis of his/her performance in both the terms.

Sanyam Bhardwaj, the Controller of Examination, CBSE has made some key announcements in this regard recently. Speaking to a national media (TOI), Bhardwaj said that more weightage would be given to Term-1 exam, in case there is any disruption of the Term-2 exam. However, the final decision in this regard will be taken only towards the end of Term-2 exams keeping in mind the prevailing situation then. Students should also note that the final result will be announced after both the terms are over. This time, students will also get individual mark sheets for the Term-1 exam.

Reports further suggest that in case schools open around February or March, even if they are closed during November/December because of pandemic, more weightage will be given to the Term-2 exam. In case schools are completely shut and do not reopen, the results of Class 10th and Class 12th Board Exam 2022 would be prepared by taking into consideration the internal assessment of the students.
