Amidst fear of the new Covid-19 variant ‘Omicron’ in the country, as many as 33 students of a Plus-2 residential college at Kunjakanta under ward No 2 of Dhenkanal Municipality, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday (Dec 1).
The district administration has reportedly sealed the College and the hostel building following detection of the positive cases. Moreover, the civic body authorities issued a show cause notice to the College for allowing students to vacate hostel despite restrictions.
All the students who have vacated hostels will remain in isolation. Earlier, the district Collector, Saroj Kumar Sethi, had declared Kunjakanta area as a ‘containment zone’ for 10 days from December 1 till 10th.
