40 ‘Vaccinated’ Doctors In UP Test Covid-19 Positive

Covid-19 cases are rising alarmingly and it seems the second wave is not going to be a smooth ride. Though the phase-wise vaccination drive which began in January brought some relief for people, a recent report from Uttar Pradesh’s King George's Medical University (KGMU) has raised serious concerns over the safety of all. As many as 40 doctors, already administered second dose of the vaccine, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The Vice Chancellor of the university has also contracted the virus. As per reports, this is the second time that the Vice Chancellor has been infected by the virus as he was tested positive in August last year. He was administered the second dose of vaccine on March 25. Reports said that most of the doctors have tested positive despite taking both the doses of vaccine. Samples of several other faculty members are being subjected to Covid tests after they complained of influenza-like symptoms on Tuesday (April 6) and their reports will be available later. Screening of entire staff in several departments was also done on Wednesday (April 7). Not only the KGMU, earlier, the heads of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Medanta hospital and Era Medical college have tested positive for COVID-19 even after getting vaccinated.
