Former India star cricketer Rahul Dravid’s son Samit Dravid has been selected in the India under-19 team for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia.
The pace-bowling all-rounder is currently playing in the ongoing KSCA Maharaja T20 trophy in Bengaluru. However, playing for Mysore Warriors in the tournament, Samit has so far failed to impress with his performance.
Samit has so far scored only 82 runs from seven innings with a top score of 33. He has not got the chance to bowl yet in the tournament.
However, Samit’s performance in the Cooch Behar Trophy earlier this year was brilliant. Samit had a great role in Karnataka’s first-ever championship victory in the tournament.
Though Samit has performed well in the domestic tournament so far, it remains to be seen how he will perform in the international arena.
Being the son of a stalwart like Rahul Dravid, there will be huge pressure on Samit to perform well in international cricket. Tackling such pressure will be a herculean task for the budding all-rounder.
Fans have already seen great Sunil Gavaskar’s son Rohan Gavaskar fading away and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar struggling to find his feet in international cricket. Under the circumstance, only time will tell how Samit will be able to emulate the great feat of his father Rahul Dravid who is known as ‘The Wall’ among the fans.
