Daughters of Odisha govt employees to get compassionate appointment irrespective of their marital status

The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, approved amendments to the OCSRA Rules, 2020, allowing compassionate appointments for daughters or stepdaughters of deceased government employees regardless of marital status. The change requires proof of dependency on their parents.

The Odisha Cabinet on Thursday approved three major proposals including compassionate appointment of daughters or step daughters of deceased government employees irrespective of their marriage status.

The cabinet meeting chaired by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi proposed to amend the OCS(RA) Rules, 2020 for compassionate appointment of daughters or step daughters of deceased government employees subject to conditions that their ‘dependency’ on their parents is proved.

As per provision of the OCS(RA) Rules, 2020, unmarried daughters and unmarried step daughters of deceased government servants are being considered for compassionate appointment, whereas, the case of married daughters or married step daughters are not considered.
