In what could play a crucial role in protecting the forests and its wildlife, the Odisha government is soon going to fill up 2000 forest guard posts in the state. Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia on Saturday informed that the state government would fill the 2,000 forest guard posts within three months.

Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi had announced that 2,298 home guard posts that were lying vacant would be filled up as soon as possible. The development came after the state government lifted the ban on recruitment of home guards, which was in force from February 2020.

Apart from home guards, the chief minister also informed that around 3000 vacant police posts would be filled in 100 days. Similarly, one police outpost each would be set up for 10 government medical colleges, one outpost at Baramunda bus terminal, and 9000 motorcycles for inspectors, sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors.
