The occurrence of dense fog may drop the visibility which may affect traffic movement on roads. A yellow warning for dense fog has been issued for some districts for January 21, 22 and 23.
“It has been predicted that one or two places of some districts will witness light rain in the coming six days. Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for coastal and nearby districts as there is a likelihood of dense fog in the next three days," said IMD Bhubaneswar scientist, Umashankar Das.

Besides, the IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in most parts of Odisha till September 7. While a low-pressure area has been formed, the state has been experiencing incessant rains for the last two days. According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department, Kirmira in Jharshuguda district received the highest amount of rainfall. It recorded 215mm of rainfall, followed by 184.8mm in Laikera 166mm in Bhadrak, 160mm in Kuchinda, 150mm in Dhamnagar, 139mm in Kolabira and 138mm in Bhandaripokhari.
Meanwhile, the boundary wall of a children’s park at Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district collapsed due to heavy rainfall on Saturday.
The boundary wall of the Sagar Bhuyan Children’s Park was constructed with a budget of Rs 45 lakhs six months ago. Today, its 200-foot-long boundary wall collapsed owing to the incessant rainfall. The local people ascribed the wall collapse to low-quality construction work.
Notably, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash one or two places of some districts in the state for the coming three days starting July 17. It has issued yellow warnings to those districts.
For July 17 from 8.30am to 8.30am of July 18, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Deogarh, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Bargarh.
Similarly, for July 18 from 8.30am to 8.30am of July 19, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur and Nuapada.
Likewise, for July 19 from 8.30am to 8.30am of July 20, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that several Odisha districts are likely to experience enhanced rainfall activities in the next four to five days.

In a letter to all Collectors, the SRC has advised the districts under yellow warning to keep administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
People may be advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.

As per IMD’s latest forecast, the minimum temperature is very likely to rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius during the next two days. However, several districts will experience dense fog in early morning hours.

In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD said, “Northwesterly/northerly dry and cold wind at lower levels penetrating over Odisha and under its influence isolated cold wave is very likely over some parts of Odisha during next two days.”
IMD further said that there will be no major change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) during the next two to three days and rise gradually rise by 2 to 4 degrees in subsequent period over the districts of Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that there will be no major change in the minimum temperature in different parts of Odisha during the next two to three days. Moreover, the minimum temperature is likely to rise slightly by two degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha.
As per the IMD, Phulbani recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees yesterday. The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded minimum temperature of 15.4 and 16.8 degree Celsius, respectively.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood moved west-northwestwards, concentrated into a well-marked low pressure area over central parts of south Bay of Bengal today.
As per IMD, it is likely to move west-northwestwards and gradually concentrate into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.
“Thereafter, it is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Tamilnadu-Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent two days,” said the IMD.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely to commence from November 20 evening over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema.
The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase with light to moderate rainfall at many places and isolated heavy rainfall is likely over North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and south coastal Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema on November 21 and 22 and light to moderate rainfall at a few places over North coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period.
As per IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar, the cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Sri Lanka coast persists.
The Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha and light to moderate rain / thundershower has occurred at most places over the districts of coastal and interior Odisha in the past 24 hours.

As per the forecast of the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, there is a probability of rainfall activity in several parts of coastal, interior and southern Odisha from August 23rd.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest of the districts from Aug 23 till the morning of Aug 24.
Similar predictions have been done by MeT centre for south interior Odisha, Gajapati, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Angul and at a few places in other districts from August 24 (Wednesday) till next day morning.
In the past 24 hours, heavy rainfall lashed few places in Sundargarh, Rayagada, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Sambalpur and Boudh of interior Odisha; while some places in Sundargarh and North interior Odisha experienced very heavy showers.
IMD informed that the Depression over Northwest Chhattisgarh and adjoining Northeast Madhya Pradesh and Southeast Uttar Pradesh moved west-northwestwards during the past six hours and would continue in the same direction across north Madhya Pradesh. The system will weaken into a well-marked Low Pressure area during the next 24 hours.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the fresh low pressure system is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas around August 18, 2022.
Umashankar Das, senior scientist at IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday said the intensity of rainfall in several parts of Odisha is likely to increase from August 18.
Several districts of the state will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall for a period of three to four days, said Das.

A monsoon trough line at mean sea level now passes through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Bareilly, Fursatganj, Varanasi, Daltonganj, Balasore and east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. The north-south trough line stretched from south Chhattisgarh to Comorin area across Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamilnadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
As per the IMD bulletin, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri over next 24 hours. The Met department has issued a yellow warning for these districts.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are likely to witness partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm. Maximum and minimum temperature is very likely to be around 35°C and 26°C respectively, informed the department.
The southwest monsoon has been subdued over Odisha. However, light to moderate rain/ thundershower have occurred at many places over the districts of south interior Odisha, at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha. The districts of Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Rayagada witnessed heavy rainfall at one or two places in last 24 hours.
Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal received the highest (11cm) rainfall on Tuesday.
“Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm very likely to occur over some parts of the districts of Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Nayagarh, Puri, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Ganjam, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Bhadrak during next three hours,” the duty officer of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said.
“People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike,” the IMD official added.
Similarly, the weather office predicted that light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm is very likely to occur over some parts of the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur during next three hours.
Earlier on Friday, the IMD had predicted that rain and thunderstorm activities will continue in the State till July 26, 2022.
‘Orange warning’ with forecast for heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been issued for several districts for the next couple of days.

According to a tweet of IMD, Bhubaneswar, "Several districts in Odisha are likely to experience heavy (7 cm to 11 cm) to very heavy (11 cm-20 cm) rainfall in the next five days."
"The pre-monsoon rain in the State is paving the way for Monsoon advancement," the regional weather office informed in the tweet.
