As per preliminary reports, the youth, dressed up as a woman, entered the house of the victims before launching the murderous attack. The accused youth has been identified as Rupesh, who works with a private news channel.
Though the exact reason behind the attack is unclear, it is alleged that Rupesh is a neighbour of the victims. Rupesh has also reportedly sustained injuries in the attack.
Mystery deepened in the incident when Rupesh allegedly police that he was first attacked by three unidentified miscreants who threatened to kill him if he did not obey their instructions. Later, the bike borne miscreants took him to an isolated place and thrashed him inside a car.
“The miscreants forced me to dress up like a woman, gagged me with a piece of cloth before asking me to get inside my neighbour’s house. They also gave me a bag containing a gun, a knife, ropes and some other articles,” claimed Rupesh.
He further claimed, “Upon reaching the neighbour’s house, the landlady started attacking me. With no other option, I too retaliated. We did not have any enmity with our neighbours.”
Rupesh’s wife said, “Three youths attacked my husband and snatched away his motorcycle near our house. I do not know what happened thereafter. Only my husband can shed more lights over the incident.”
Bhubaneswar DCP, Umashankar Dash said, “Our senior officials are on the spot. Prima facie it appears that there was some brawl between the two families and two persons have been injured. Our investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident.”
The injured woman identified as Ranjita Behera is now undergoing treatment at Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) with multiple injuries on her head and hand in the attack.
According to reports, she was alone when the miscreants forcibly entered the house and attacked her.
A few locals found Ranjita lying in a pool of blood and later rushed her to Soro CHC in 108 ambulance.
Though the exact reason behind the attack is still unclear, police have started investigation into the incident.
Sources said, Ranjita lives alone as her husband and son stay in Chennai.
Bolangir: A woman was brutally attacked by a youth after she resisted his rape attempt at Juba village under Belpada police limits in Bolangir district. The NCRB report-2016 released last week had placed Odisha in one of the top rankers on crimes against women.
As per the complaint, when the woman had gone to a nearby field to attend nature’s call, one Ashok Tandi allegedly attempted to rape her. When she resisted and tried to escape, the youth started hitting her with a stone in a bid to kill her. The woman sustained critical injuries on her head and face. She was later rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the accused and are interrogating him. Patnagarh SDPO Seshadev Bariha said accused Ashok would be forwarded to court after his medical examination.

According to reports, the woman Gouri Das had borrowed some money from a person named Hari Patra, also a resident of the same village.
When Hari demanded his money back, Gouri asked a month’s time to return the amount. However, Hari demanded it back immediately which triggered argument between Gouri and Hari.
Later, Hari along with three others assaulted Gouri and attacked her with blades in an attempt to kill her, alleged the injured.
“She had borrowed money from more than 100 people but had agreed to return the amount. Only after investigation we can reach any conclusion of the allegations reported by the victim,” said IIC of Polsara, Tapaswini Kanhar.
Meanwhile, police said the accused are absconding after the incident.

The injured was identified as Tanuja Kumari Nayak (29). She sustained serious injuries on her neck. She was rushed to the Capital Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital here. The name of the accused is Manas, said the victim in the hospital. Her condition is stated to be stable now.
Sources said the miscreant intercepted the car in which Nayak was travelling and attacked her with a sharp weapon. The accused fled away soon after that. The incident occurred when Nayak was going to Jharkhand with her brother. Police have started investigation into the matter.
