The IMD on Monday predicted rain and thunderstorm activities in several parts of Odisha. As per the lastest forecast, light rain/thundershower is likely to occur in several parts of the state from November 1.
Several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm activities in the next 24 hours, predicted IMD on Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall activities in several parts of Odisha on September 27.As per IMD, the alert has been sounded for four districts- Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Puri.
Odisha is all set to experience fresh spell of rainfall activities triggered by a fresh Low Pressure area which has formed today over Westcentral and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal under the influence of yesterday’s cyclonic circulation.
A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over East-central Bay of Bengal tomorrow. Under its influence, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a low pressure over West-central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours.
The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'Yellow Warning' to 14 districts of Odisha for the next 24 hours.
Though Odisha is passing through a spell of deficit rain, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower. The met office has issued a 'yellow warning' for thundershowers and lightning over 11 districts of the state in the next 24 hours.
After receiving deficit rainfall this monsoon, Odisha is set to receive more rainfall after August 15. This rainfall is likely to be triggered by a low pressure which is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal (BoB). This information was given by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Director General, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Thursday (Aug 12).

The Bhubaneswar regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for as many as 20 districts. In the latest weather forecast, a yellow warning has been issued for 20 districts over expected thunderstorm with lightning during the next 24 hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that a Low Pressure Area has formed over North Bay of Bengal (BoB) and neighborhood and currently persists over the same area with an associated cyclonic circulation. The low pressure is likely to become a well-marked over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh in the next 24 hours.
A Low Pressure area is likely to form over North-West Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around 28th July, 2021. The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar predicted the formation of the Low Pressure in its weather update on Monday. The Low Pressure Area is likely to form under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that currently lies over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood.
Citing that the Southwest Monsoon has been subdued in Odisha, the India Meteorological Centre (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall and thundershowers in the next couple of days.
In view of forecast of heavy rainfall, the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning in several districts of Odisha till June 27. While the cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal is still prevalent, the weather department has said that the effects of the currently active southwest monsoon will be felt intensely in Odisha in the coming days.
The low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to become more marked in the next 2-3 days. As per the regional centre of the India Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar the system is likely to move west-northwestwards across Odisha, Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh.
