The cyclonic circulation over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal has turned into a Low Pressure, the India Meteorological Department said on Monday.
Odisha will witness a gradual decrease in the intensity of low pressure-induced rainfall from today. But, from September 18, it will witness more rains as a fresh cyclonic circulation may brew over north Bay of Bengal.
The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar has predicted more rains for the State from September 18 as a fresh cyclonic circulation may develop over north Bay of Bengal.
Odisha is likely to witness enhanced rainfall activity from today (September 5). Several districts in the state may experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activities, said the IMD.
After witnessing a dry spell, several parts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activities from tomorrow.Moreover, a cyclonic circulation or low pressure is likely to form over Westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal after September 5.
Several parts of north Odisha, north interior and south coastal experienced moderate rain/thundershower in the past 24 hours.
Refuting cyclone speculations, IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that the system will move along the coast as deep depression. It's unlikely that the system will further intensify.
