Speaking on the occasion, Shah said, “Studying in own language will enhance students' abilities. They should come out of their linguistic inferiority complex as today there is a government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they can showcase their abilities in their language.”
Shah also hailed PM Modi for speaking in Hindi on international platforms and said while some forces in the world have adopted the 'brain drain' theory, PM Modi has changed the same theory to 'brain gain'.

The Home Minister also predicted an 'educational revolution' due to the restoration of pride in Indian languages through the New Education Policy adopted by the Centre.

The examination was earlier scheduled from October 6 to October 11, 2021. As per the latest notification issued on Friday (September 3), the exams have been rescheduled and will now be conducted from October 6 (Wednesday) till October 8 (Friday) and again from October 17 (Sunday) till October 19 (Tuesday) this year.
The NTA informed about realising from the student community that the date of exam on October 10 was clashing with some other major examination scheduled for that particular day.
Therefore, keeping in mind the interests of students, for larger participation of students in examination and to remove hardships, the NTA decided to reschedule the examination dates.
The exam conducting body further informed that it will provide the detailed date sheet of the examination in subsequent time. NTA has also advised students to keep visiting the official website of NTA (ugcnet.nta.nic.in) and (www.nta.ac.in) for all the latest updates.
Sources said the new testing agency has already initiated a blueprint to deploy modern tools like artificial intelligence, psychometric analysis and computer-based adaptive testing for screening candidates during the examinations which are set to be conducted in an all-new online format from next year.
Not only this, several other new rules are also on the anvil, informed sources. For example, students will be allowed to choose their own exam dates. During the examination, candidates will be able to review or revisit questions later, once they have completed the easier ones. In case the candidate is unhappy with the scores, he/she can retake the exams again after three months.
Experts believe that the move to introduce new format is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and help honest students who have better grasp on the subject rather than those who depend on rote learning.
The question papers would be designed in a manner that the computer algorithm would throw random questions to students instead of particular question sets.
Similarly, highest level of encryption will be done so that the question database would be near-impossible to hack which also essentially makes the examination safer and it would reduce malpractice, said former Director of Rourkela NIT, Sunil Sarangi.
“The agency would definitely have a huge database of questions so that the computer software can have options to prepare a balanced question set with high and low difficulty levels,” he said.
“But my only concern is that from now on the government should be prepared to bring in all the competitive examinations like JEE Advanced and JEE Mains under one roof," Sarangi said.
Odisha Private Engineering College Association and students have welcomed the move to introduce the new format.
“The exams will be more secure and at par with international norms. There will be no issues of leakages and it would be more student-friendly, open, and scientific,” OPECA Secretary, Binod Das said.
"As students we think that the new decision will greatly benefit us because of its flexibility. We can appear the exam for the second time in a single year, if by any chance we miss the exam in the first place," said a student.
It is to be noted that earlier this month, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that in place of the CBSE, now the NTA will conduct major engineering and medical examinations from next year. The testing agency will conduct the UGC-NET in December. Similarly, JEE (Mains) will be held twice a year, in January and April and NEET would be conducted in February and May every year by the testing agency.
The deadline to apply for the above posts is April 27, 2018.

UGC NET is used to ascertain the eligibility for the posts of Assistant Professors in a university recognised by the UGC. The examination is also used as an entrance test for selection of Junior Research Fellowships at a recognized national university.
Earlier the CBSE used to conduct the NET examination twice a year but from this year onward it would be held only once a year.
Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) decision to suspend the entrance test for the first half of the year has been vehemently opposed by the students.
Demanding CBSE to take back its decision, the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC). SIO has also urged the government to conduct one more entrance test this year for those who will no longer be eligible for the test, says an HT report.
Worth mentioning that the UGC NET exam is usually held in the months of June and December but earlier this year, in its July 11 notification, CBSE announced that test will be held on November 5.
The country is already lagging in imparting quality education to students. Besides, there is already dearth of qualified teachers in degree colleges and scrapping up of the NET exam will further worsen the situation in these educational institutions, said SIO.

Earlier, percentage of candidates actually qualifying the examination remained below 5 per cent. Only the top 15% of candidates in each subject and category with minimum required marks in paper-I, paper-II and paper-III were being considered qualified basing upon their category.
Meanwhile, UGC expects the number of NET aspirants qualifying the entrance exam to increase at least by 6% as against 3.99% in January 2017.
As per sources, CBSE approached the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the suggestion to hold NET annually in view of the poor response to the test and also complained that conducting various examinations which are outside its purview was putting a lot of pressure on it. However, the government announced that CBSE will continue to conduct NET.
The CBSE, it has been reported, had earlier written to the human resource development (HRD) ministry in September informing it about getting overburdened by conducting various exams.
Putting an end to speculations, Minister of State for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey on Thursday said in the Rajya Sabha that CBSE will continue to conduct NET for post graduate students. However, UGC is yet to make a final decision on conducting NET annually.

It announced the schedule for UGC-NET, JEE-Main I & II, CMAT & GPAT, and NEET-UG.
All these exams will be computer-based except for NEET, which will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode as before. This mode of writing exam was kept unchanged at the request of Health Ministry.
"The change in the NEET exam pattern (as against the statement made on July 7, 2018) -- which will now be a single exam in pen-and-paper mode and in the same number of languages as has been conducted last year -- is on the request of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which wanted the same pattern as last year's to be maintained," the HRD Ministry said in its statement.
While declaring the establishment of NTA, the Ministry had in July said that all these exams will be conducted online.
As per the schedule announced on Tuesday, the UGC-NET will be conducted on several days during December 9-23, 2018; JEE-Main I on days between January 6 and 20, 2019, while JEE-Main II will be held between April 6 and 20, 2019.
The CPAT-GMAT entrance, earlier conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education, will be conducted by the NTA now on January 28 and NEET-Undergraduate on May 5 next year.
The Ministry said that through NTA it has also established 2,697 Test Practice Centres (TPCs) in schools and engineering colleges for candidates to practice and familiarise themselves with the pattern of the exams.
These centres will be available to the candidates on Sundays and Saturdays starting from September 1 and will be free of charge.
"The TPCs will have a downloaded Computer Based Test (CBT) which will be similar to the actual test to be conducted on the exam day.
"The practice tests will help the candidates familiarise themselves with logging into the system, going through the detailed instructions regarding the test, using the mouse or numeric keyboard on screen (virtual) for attempting each question, scrolling down to the next question, navigating between questions, reviewing and editing their options and submit questions," the statement read.
“This is not the first time that such clash of dates has taken place; we often face such situation where our future and ambitions go for a toss. It will be difficult to decide whether to give a miss to the NET or the RRB main,” he added.
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is expected to declare the result of online preliminary examination for recruitment of scale I officers in RRBs in October 2017. And the main examination will be held on November 5, 2017.
Similarly, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for post graduate students for lectureship on November 5.

“We can’t miss a main exam but giving a miss to UGC NET is also difficult. However, we are left with no choice. We have spent Rs 1000 as fee to apply NET. Money is not all we are worried about but it’s certainly something for students who get around Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 per months from parents and also for all those who take tuitions and do part time jobs to fund their own study,” said another aspirant who has already cleared the main exam and interview for ASM in Indian Railways, Dhiraj Sahu.
All these dates are tentative. Hope the exam conducting authorities will consider problems of the students as both the exams are important,” said a faculty of a private coaching centre here.
“CBSE did not conduct the NET exam in July and pushed it for November 5. Earlier, students were at least able to attend the exam twice annually but this year they will get only one chance and, adding to the woes, if some of them can’t attend due to the date issue, it will be really unfortunate,” he added.

Similarly, the OBC-NCL category candidates will now pay Rs 500 as against Rs 300 being paid by them earlier.
UGC NET November 2017 exam fee for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST candidates has been hiked from Rs 150 to 250.

“We were not expecting such a steep increase. It’s just unbelievable the way the government is increasing prices in every sector,” said an aspirant.
“Earlier, the exam was pushed from July to November and now the fee has been increased by Rs 400. It’s an anti-student move of the concerned authorities,” said an ex-student of Ravenshaw University.
UGC is regularly changing its terms and conditions. The sudden hike is too much and it will put extra burden on the students. This is disappointing.
