Lakhs of devotees thronged the pilgrim city of Puri to observe the Kartik Purnima and witness Suna Besha (golden attire) of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. Devotees took a holy dip in the morning and offered prayers and witnessed the Suna Besha.
The devotees, mostly elderly people spent the night to witness the Suna Besha inside the Puri Temple on the occasion of Kartik Purnima.

The SJTA has revised Puri Srimandir rituals and timings of food abstinence for people on the lunar eclipse day.This lunar eclipse coincides with Kartik Purnima, November 8.
Since Kartik Purnima will also be celebrated on the day, scholars and astrologers were advised to reschedule all the rituals and offerings of different prasads.
For the last solar eclipse of the year, the Chhatisa Nijog has fixed a special time table for the rituals at Puri Jagannath temple. The eclipse which is a partial one will be taking place in the wee hours of Tuesday. The eclipse will take place at 4:56:52 pm and the Sarva Moksha will occur at 6:26:52 pm. Cooking, food intake and rituals of deities are prohibited from 4.57 am.
Two women were allegedly misbehaved and beaten up by a servitor inside the Jagannath Temple on Wednesday. They were in Puri to perform ‘Habisha’ in the holy Kartik month.
When the lady entered the Temple to avail darshan of Lord Jagannath, a servitor allegedly pushed her and when she fell down, the servitor even set his foot on her neck.
At the meeting, Padma Shri recipient renowned sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik wished to know the present status of the Ratna Bhandar, its repair work and reopening. But his proposal was technically sidelined, saying the matter was not in the agenda.
During the last inspection it was found that there was over 1280 kg gold jewellery in the treasure house. If Ratna Bhandar could be opened in 1980s, what is stopping the BJD government to open it now, the BJP leader questioned.
A decision regarding the reopening of Ratna Bhandar will be taken in a meeting which is scheduled to be held on September 27.
When developed, the portal will be used as a one-stop-shop for all the devotees who would wish to avail darshan, perform puja and order Prasad from any temple in the State covered by the ITMS.
Notably on August 8, the ASI had written to SJTA Chief Administrator about its plans to inspect the treasure trove of Lord Jagannath.
Earlier on July 6, Puri king Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb expressed his desire to see the Ratna Bhandar to be opened as soon as possible. He also raised demands for early repair of the Ratna Bhandar as its condition is not good.
